What does anyone make of what appears to me a central contradiction or tension in jeffers' work: namely, the fact that beauty makes characters act in the destructive and perverse ways that they do (This coast crying out for tragedy) and beauty also saves us from ourselves (turn outward to the beauty. I have some opinions on this myself but I will wait to see what others think
